Looking for a photographer can seem daunting, here are some tips to find your ideal Photographer...
A mistake I made when getting my senior pictures done was I rushed into it and took pictures with the first photographer that had a senior offer. Thank god she turned out to be an awesome photographer but I should have done my research and at LEAST looked at her Instagram.
- Find a photographer whose style you absolutely love. When you see their photos, you need to feel it in your soul. Make sure that every aspect of their style aligns with your individual personality. Photographers won't usually do a 180 on their style, and neither should they. This leads to my second point; personality.
- Your personality is unique to you, that's why it's important to find photographers that are compatible with you and your style. There are photographers who are very serious and treat a shoot like a corporate meeting, while others are there to make you have fun and capture you at your most authentic self. This will help with how comfortable you are with posing and their creative ideas.
- Next is finding a photographer that you absolutely trust, as in their creative process, poses and ideas. I've had some clients not like a pose or an idea, which I was fine with. But when I sent over the final edited images, they end up loving it.
- Lastly, make sure your photographer has shot with other clients that have a similar complexion as you. This sounds odd, but editing skin tones can be a bit harder and it can impact the photographer's overall editing style and presets they use.
All in all, have FUNN!! There is no use finding your ideal photographer just to be bored. Have good communication with your photographer on exactly what you want. We love it when you give us a list of poses you need and different locations. It makes our jobs easier and we don't have to mind read.
